WHO WE ARE

Hello, My name is Jacob Medlin and I would like to tell you a little bit about why I am so passionate about Sounds of Obedience. I grew up in Statesville North Carolina and have always been drawn to working with dogs. I graduated from Animal Behavior College with a certificate in dog training in 2015 and have been professionally working with dogs ever since. I interned with agility and behavior modification dog trainers, I have taken a continuing education course through the Charlotte Humane Society, and have previously worked as a kennel tech at Mooresville Animal Hospital. I volunteered at the Iredell County Animal Shelter for four years as a dog trainer and a dog tester.

During that time I grew fond of one dog, he was a champagne-colored pit-lab mix with lots of energy and one big heart named Duke. Duke was one of our abuse cases and had severe separation anxiety. I would always go get him when new dogs came to the shelter and needed to be tested for aggression before being put up for adoption. No one seemed to want to adopt my testing buddy; after working with him for two months, I took him home and he is now my best friend. Duke was not alone, there were so many dogs like him who had severe behavior problems due to their abusive pasts and struggled to get adopted out or brought back to the shelter after being adopted, that's when I came up with the Sounds of Obedience Save and Train program. In the save and train program, I adopt dogs from a local shelter and then house break, crate train, leash train, and teach them basic commands while correcting any unwanted behaviors. When the dogs complete the program, we put them up for re-adoption to find their forever home. 

Already have a four-legged best friend? I still offer private one-on-one dog training sessions as well as board and train options available. I also offer boarding services. So long as I have a crate available, I strive to provide a safe, warm, home-like environment for your dog to stay in so that you can have a guilt-free vacation.  I can't wait to get started empowering you towards a better relationship with your furry best friend.
